ABOUT US
The North Texas Retriever Club is an AKC affiliated retriever club dedicated to hosting AKC Field Trials.
We are a small group of retriever enthusiasts passionate about the dogs and the sport of Field Trials and continuing the long standing legacy of the North Texas Retriever Club.
The NTRC hosts two AKC Field Trials annually in Valley View, TX at some of the most beautiful retriever grounds in the country. We host one event in May and one event in September. Our club members are based in the North Texas area and we volunteer our time to assist putting on these events.
As a club, we are also passionate about helping our members learn to train and handle their retrievers. Please contact us if you have interest in learning more about how you can participate and become a member. We would love to have you join us.
We are currently working on a schedule to have club training days in the future at the home of our President, Wade Cashion and his Texas Duck Dog facility. Club training days are great for members of all levels to learn and ask questions about Field Trials and learn more about training and handling your dog. We encourage all members to attend as we are passionate about helping each other become better trainers and handlers and growing the club and getting people involved with the sport of Field Trials.
HISTORY
The NTRC was started in or around 1955 by Hal and Katherine Medlin and their friends Gus Reifler and Truman Clem amongst others. They once held field trials at Snug Harbor in Carrolton, TX on Dallas City Water Supply property.
